I grew up in Raleigh and went to Cardinal Gibbons High School. My father's side of the family has lived in Bath and Little Washington for generations and I spent summers visiting there. graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and in 1998 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
I received a commission in the US Navy as an officer and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency program before being selected as Department Head for the dental department onboard the USS Arctic (AOE 8). I was awarded the Surface Warfare Dental Officer pin and Navy Commendation; I am a fifth-generation veteran with family members having served in the Navy and Marine Corps.
After completing 4 years in the Navy, I opened my own practice in Raleigh on Falls of Neuse Rd, two miles from where I grew up. I started the office from scratch and practiced there for 16 years with my wife Brittany, who served as practice manager.
During my time there I completed a yearlong Dental Implant training program at the Triangle Dental Institute and was inducted as a Fellow in the International College of Oral Implantology.
I sold my practice in 2021, and my family and I moved to Little Washington, I have worked in New Bern at a previous dental practice for the past two years.
My wife and I have six children, we are planning on making New Bern our home next year after she completes her training as a Dental Hygienist.
